TREK IN THE MGOUN REGION

Mgoun Region
Mgoun Region
Mgoun Region

We organise fully personalised, tailor-made treks in the Mgoun Region, with accommodation as required, for individuals and groups, large and small, of all aptitudes, abilities and experiences. Whether you wish to climb Ighil n’Oumsoud (4068m) itself, the summit of Ighil Mgoun, the second highest massif in North Africa, or undertake a less strenuous challenge at a lower altitude, perhaps through the “Happy” Aït Bou Guemez Valley or maybe along the Tassaout Valley, the birthplace of the Berber poetess Mririda n’Aït Attiq, we will listen closely to your wishes. We can recommend routes to you, of course. Why not begin by looking at the five suggestions, above? Please remember, however, that our programmes are not fixed. We would be very happy to discuss other possibilities with you while always encouraging you to make the final choice of when and where you go, and for how long.

WHY WALK IN THE MGOUN REGION?

The beautiful, traditional villages and green valleys of the lower reaches of the Mgoun Region contrast wonderfully with the far-reaching views that can be enjoyed from its remote and dramatic passes. More than almost anywhere else in Morocco, the Mgoun Region offers opportunities to enjoy warm Berber hospitality in local homes and to gain an insight into a way of life which has remained almost unaltered for centuries. On the other hand, the region also presents some of the greatest challenges in the Atlas, including the chance to reach the summit of Ighil Mgoun itself and to descend through the stunning Achabou Gorges.
